在所有人都已經習慣 Core i 品牌之後，Intel 又有新的一波改造計畫。 Intel Core i 在 2008 年 Nehalem 架構時一同推出至今已有多個年頭，正當市場中已經習慣透過 Core i3、Core i5、Core i7 進行區分之際，Intel 又新推出了 Core M 這個專為行動市場所打造的全新品牌。 正當消費者還搞不清楚 Core M 這個品牌的區分方式之時，Intel 針對 Atom 系列則是推出了與 Core i 類似的品牌，將會採用 Atom x3、Atom x5、Atom x7 區分，與目前 Core i 以性能為分化的方式一樣。 另外，Intel 大致將 Core i、Core M 與 Atom 做了用途上的明顯差異，分屬於效能、綜合，還有高續航力的重點分類。
